I set it up and was conspicuously swiping in bed. My wife is all hey, what are you doing? I’m all nothing.. put the phone down on the dresser.
No, let me see your phone etc. I relent, she opens the app with sulphur smoldering in her nostrils lol, then she starts poking around, and we have been having a really great night since.
In a similar vein, we used "Kinder", which is like Tinder except it's for choosing baby names - it shows you names that both you and your partner swiped right on.
> StumbleUpon was a website, browser extension, toolbar, and mobile app with a "Stumble!" button that, when pushed, opened a semi-random website or video that matched the user's interests, similar to a random web search engine.[1] Users were able to filter results by type of content and were able to discuss such webpages via virtual communities and to rate such webpages via like buttons. StumbleUpon was shut down in June 2018.
I loved StumbleUpon but I have this odd feeling that it was sort of the first augur in my life for what algorithmic feeds would do to my attention span. But it really was a cool thing, in those last days of the pre-social media web, to find all those neat little passion project sites.
I also fear that the centralization of the web to a handful of websites has made a revival impossible. If 80% of your stumbles are just reddit posts or imgur links, whats the point?
People seem to have forgotten StumbleUpon had a pretty decent configuration page where you had to manually select what topics you were interested in, and that submitting new pages wasn't as simple as just submitting the URL. On top of that, I'm pretty sure I remember a "block this domain" option if you clicked the arrow next to the thumbs down: https://i.sstatic.net/VLS4c.png
Its not the worst idea, but it seems less of a business and more of a feature for an existing social networking site, which already has the contents and the likes and just needs to add a few pieces for the dating bit.
Then people would form meaningful relationships and have no reason to keep returning to your app after the first few minutes of engagement. That is not going to keep the VCs happy.
All joking aside, if you were to make a charitable foundation or worker-owned co-op, how would you overcome the same challenge software itself has? — Letting the world know it exists.
Anyone can code up an application over a weekend. That isn't the problem. VC money is for use in letting everyone else know that you created it. Long, long gone is the age where you could throw something up on the App Store and see the masses flock to it. It takes serious resources to get the word out nowadays.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with building software just for yourself. Not everything has to be shouted on every rooftop. But this specific type of software doesn't work so well if you are the only one using it.
Word-of-mouth. Say to your users: "if you want this to be useful, ask your friends to use it, talk about it online…". (You'll get low conversion rates from this, but it's free, and it doesn't promulgate an attention economy the way that billboards and banner ads do.) Advertising is effort, but it's not that hard, really: most advertising firms are extremely inefficient at their jobs, but they get paid because the alternative is nobody advertises the thing.
It also helps if your service is still somewhat useful to individuals, in the absence of network effects. So, once the core service (organise meetups between users) is implemented, get to work on aggregating and categorising social events that already exist. (Use standard protocols, to leave the ladder around for others to climb, but keep track of your API consumers: some of them might be hostile anti-social entities like Facebook, whose existences need to be nipped in the bud.) Once you have something genuinely useful, pick a small-ish city, and guerilla advertise in it. If you've done things right, that should be enough.
Now, leave a skeleton crew on it, and move on to the Next Big Thing. You should be able to maintain three or four pieces of infrastructure in this way, some of which you might even be able to charge money for! (But resist the temptation to monetise and enshittify, or even just excessively-tweak, what you've built.)
If that worked, why would anyone give up their business to VCs ever? Having VCs is not a fun place to be. It is a horrible situation to find yourself in (unless you are the VC, I suppose).
There was a time where you could rely on word-of-mouth, but those days are behind us. Everyone and their brother is vying for word-of-mouth attention nowadays. The noise is too great. It takes vast resources to emit a usable signal.
1. Some businesses can't just be built from nothing-but-software-and-server. You need warehouses, logistics, and all sorts of other fixed costs that exist before you can start recouping your investment. Not everyone has the money to start such a business, despite otherwise having the ability.
2. People aren't entirely stupid. If something's a scam, con, or otherwise a detriment to human flourishing, they're not going to use it unless they have reason to doubt their assessment. Advertising is good at getting people to associate thing with sentiment, which can override their bullshit detectors.
Something that's genuinely-useful, and genuinely-better, can spread without any advertising spending, once it's past the threshold where noise no longer dominates. (For example, Plausible Analytics: I poked around their demo, concluded that it was strictly better than Google Analytics, and (after a couple of chats with one of the founders) started telling everyone with a website about it. I was clearly not the only one.)
I have no idea why anyone would give up their business to VCs if they don't need investment to kick it off, and aren't running a long con.
> You need warehouses, logistics, and all sorts of other fixed costs that exist before you can start recouping your investment.
That type of business is rarely appealing to VCs. VCs seek rapid growth and quick exits. Warehouses are the antithesis of that. Hard to scale and even harder to sell. It is an investible business for the right type of investor, but VCs and investors are not synonymous.
> once it's past the threshold where noise no longer dominates.
You are technically correct here, but we're clearly talking about the stage before you've already overcome the noise floor.
> Plausible Analytics
They claim to be self-funded — in other words, acting as their own VCs. Which is all well and good when you're already rich, but if you're already rich (and not looking to get richer) why not just hire a concierge/matchmaker? What do you need a poor man's app for?
You don't need to be rich to fund your own digital service business, if the only costs (while you're small) are a server and your own time. You merely need to be not poor. There are many people unable to do that, but people with the time to post on Hacker News probably have the time to start a business.
There are plenty of logistical barriers other than access to money, that prevent people from starting businesses. All these barriers can be overcome by being rich, but that's not the only way they can be overcome. Collectively, we can call these ways-to-overcome-barriers "privilege" (to crib from the language of academic feminism).
> You don't need to be rich to fund your own digital service business
You do if you want to transcend beyond the noise. Which you claim said business has. I'll take your word for it. It isn't technology that makes a technology company. Technology is easy. The hard part is getting to know the world. That's what takes tremendous resources nowadays (as before, it wasn't always so hard, but unless you have a time machine...).
RE: Plausible, you should have checked their compliance and terms and conditions after checking demo and using it. There are some gotchas to be aware of (lack of DPO, being one red flag). Going umami, matomo would have been cheaper and safer.
Afaik, Plausible doesn't need a data protection officer. See Article 37 GDPR. (But I'll follow that up with them, in case it's an oversight.) I have read Plausible's documentation, and I haven't identified any problems with their practices.

Matomo is excellent and I second your recommendation.

Its not social media, its kinda similar, but not public, and its main goal is to export the approval data to be used elsewhere. No ones supposed to keep scrolling on it
I know that the youtuber james scholz (jvscholz) mentioned recently that he is working on developing such a project. It even had a landing page. I can't find the link again however and would have to click through all his youtube videos.

Its not impossible that those chat platforms can make plugins to do this. But theyd definitely have to build it
Does my wife also get this so she can be on the other side? Nevermind... I don't need the sad reality of her trying to swipe left and telling me she thinks the app is broken.
This reminds me of an old Gallagher (the Sledge-o-Matic guy) joke, where he was throwing out product ideas: "Playboy for married guys... Every month, same girl!"
This is such a fun idea - taking something like Tinder and turning it into a tiny act of daily love is oddly wholesome. I’d actually love to see some silly stats tracked, like 'Total swipes right' or 'Days streak'. Nice little personal UX twist.
HN: All of the negativity and toxicity of a Reddit discussion, without having to get disturbed by something as unproductive as smiling or a laughing!
In all seriousness, the average HN comment thread feel a lot less pleasant than the average Reddit thread. Granted, Reddit has way worse places, but comparing HN to all of Reddit is illogical - HN compares more to a single (large/active) subreddit.
> In all seriousness, the average HN comment thread feel a lot less pleasant than the average Reddit thread.
I disagree strongly actually. HN'ers to me make sense, in many ways. Redditors are a crap shoot. I go in with the HN mindset on Reddit and it's 50% reasonable and 50% "what the hell am I reading?"
HN is 95% reasonable.
I understand that to some it's an acquired taste but it was home to me from the moment I discovered it.
I don't mind the Reddit-esque comments here. It's on brand for the topic. I get that when someone has a more serious disposition in life, that this topic would feel a bit grating.
> HN compares more to a single (large/active) subreddit.
HN is indeed one of the few places in the web that I think maintains a more community-like platform and it's a home for me too. However I think how reasonable is the general ethos depends on the topic. It goes without saying that tech is it's strong suit, so the 95% figure (which I read as "the vast majority") is reasonable. For other topics like social problems, civil liberties and personal responsibilities is way less reasonable than that, I'd say half-half...
I have fun with a friend of mine sharing ridiculous comments on such topics and there is no shortage of those.
I have to give props to the moderation though. More often than not, these comments are flagged and die really quick.
The part of Reddit I go to is roughly equal parts memes, serious discussions and derailed threads.
Here I feel like I just lost the first part, so 50/50 between serious discussions and derailed threads.
Either is moderated to be without anything eye-gouging (again, comparing HN to specific subreddits that would carry similar content, and not reddit as a whole).
Sure, some individuals might prefer things this way, but it's definitely not objectively better as the general attitude towards reddit and against any humor seems to suggest.
Can't try because Android phone best phone, but I already have a request.
Can we get messages? It isn't that uncommon where I live to have several instant messaging apps, and having a separate channel for chats with my partner is actually great. Easier to manage alerts and notifications, doesn't mix with the other channels, etcetera.
No, you can share a pic with with your partner by swiping up but I don’t really plan on adding anything new - the plan is actually to open source it and anyone can add anything they want
Monetization is easy. Threaten to show them somebody else's pictures: pay up or we'll show you photos of your sexy neighbor (could be AI-generated). And tell your partner.
This is commonly believed, but is not actually true. Not generating revenue via the infringing activity might contribute to an argument of Fair Use, but it's not a magic wand that disappears copyright claims.
Copyright infringement is totally different from trademark infringement. Please re-read the thread.
They're not using Tinder's marks nor providing a confusingly similar brand.
Unless they copied art from Tinder, they are light years away from infringing on anyone's copyright, so I'd be even more happy to respond to those claims.
A tender is the cart that contains the coal in steam locomotives, so it's a burden you can't get rid of. Not sure if my wife would appreciate that (if I had one)
I love this, I wonder if you could make it so your partner could create the album and vice versa? And then you could swipe left on each other with pictures you chose for the other.
Amazing! I love a good cheesy app that lets me show my appreciation. Let me know when it's on Android.
I threw together my own thing called Heart for the Android app store a while ago which sends a notification of a little heart to whomever you've paired with. :)
Does this use Apple's face-recognition tech to automatically populate pictures of your spouse, or do you have to add them manually? I was under the impression that third-party apps couldn't access the People albums in PhotoKit.
There are other comments joking about how this app will never secure funding unless it implements an AI feature… well, problem solved! Just have the app periodically flash AI-generated photos of women similar to the wife.
Hmm I granted access to my photos then selected an album but it says "No photos found" after. It also says "PhotoManager has 0 photos" and "DisplayedPhotos has 0 photos". I chose a shared album, if it matters.
edit: okay yeah it doesn’t work with a shared album
2013 to learn some android I wrote a program which allows my wife to track every call, every sms, payments, and later whatsapp notifications, number of steps, vitals, current location, location history and current vehicle.
It is a hugely unsecure and foolish thing to do, but hilarious when she shows the report pages to her friends.
People are understandably fascinated by it, and trying to learn to figure out what’s being created by AI and what’s not. The commenter is right about this example, you could certainly vibe code an app like this.
this is pretty nice, and sort of sweet, sure shows the meanness of my own Tinder but it's only pictures of Donald Trump and you can only swipe right practical joke I played on some ex-friends.
Well with women you just have to act like you don’t care, and stop showing an interest. So stop with the pull requests and start submitting some push requests..
(This is satie for those of you who needs to have it spelled out :-)
Your situation was very different than an app made as a joke, the joke being that Tinder would be used to cheat on your partner, while here a similar app does the opposite.
I assume this was a project for getting experience with SwiftUI, but it was a missed opportunity to get experience with KMP and being able to release Android and iOS at the same time.
I've never heard of Kotlin Multi Platform until now. I've already discounted half a dozen multiplatform solutions, could you perhaps "sell me" on KMP? I absolutely love other Jetbrains products.
This is great.
This made my morning! Thank you for sharing
I did the same thing! We had a good laugh.
In a similar vein, we used "Kinder", which is like Tinder except it's for choosing baby names - it shows you names that both you and your partner swiped right on.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/kinder-find-baby-names/id10684...
Now hear me out, Tinder but for kids. Could go by the same "Kinder" name.
This is a horrible idea, but it's probably profitable, so it will be done.
Now hear me out.
No.
This made me realise that I want Tinder but for arbitrary content and able to be shared via links - photos, restaurants, date and times, or whatever.
Create a Google Drive folder for your trip photos, sync it with OAuth, send a link to your group chat, and share the ones that everyone liked.
StumbleUpon2?
> StumbleUpon was a website, browser extension, toolbar, and mobile app with a "Stumble!" button that, when pushed, opened a semi-random website or video that matched the user's interests, similar to a random web search engine.[1] Users were able to filter results by type of content and were able to discuss such webpages via virtual communities and to rate such webpages via like buttons. StumbleUpon was shut down in June 2018.

I really loved StumbleUpon, but I fear reviving it would lead to nothing but inorganic traffic and malware.
It'd only work today if it was hand-curated and every submission continuously checked in case the underlying page was altered.
That said, it would work. Whether it would be financially viable is another matter, but going for profitability is ruining a lot of fun.
I also fear that the centralization of the web to a handful of websites has made a revival impossible. If 80% of your stumbles are just reddit posts or imgur links, whats the point?
That you can exclude them?
People seem to have forgotten StumbleUpon had a pretty decent configuration page where you had to manually select what topics you were interested in, and that submitting new pages wasn't as simple as just submitting the URL. How about Tinder that shows content instead of pictures of your date, and then sets up dates with people who like similar content.
A lot of guys would be matched…and maybe find some new friends.
Actually, such an app could match people for non-romantic dates.
If the app could be used to find non-romantic dates, people could keep using it even after finding a romantic partner.
Then don't make it VC-funded: make it a charitable foundation or worker-owned cooperative or something.

Word-of-mouth. Say to your users: "if you want this to be useful, ask your friends to use it, talk about it online…". Two reasons:
Isn't that just TikTok and TikTok share button?
But the original idea is to crowdsource preference data and only publish the liked ones. Like screen testing a movie with a focus group. Tiktok doesnt really do that do they? Can yiu access interaction data from tiktok?
So a feed of links, videos, pictures or text shared by people that others could somehow vote on emphasize popularity, showing the most voted content on some form of easily accessible landing page...
I feel like I have heard this idea before.

I'm being sarcastic because Hacker News itself, and more generally Reddit, fits that exact description.
But most chats like discord / signal / telegram / fb messenger(?) can already react to images you send. Just send them in your group chat, then upload the ones with the most reaction.

I built a small throwaway project that's kinda like that. https://flipr.social/
I should add the links for sharing as a feature update.
What do you do when every restaurant swipes left on you?
This would actually be a really good idea except it´s 100% this will be abused in no time and a cesspool of disgusting or disturbing pics "for lulz"
On the other hand, arent infinite socmedia scrolls not already this but for the ux? with the like or bookmark serving as your right scroll?
I don't think the OP meant for this to be public, probably something only for a private group.
Does my wife also get this so she can be on the other side? Nevermind... I don't need the sad reality of her trying to swipe left and telling me she thinks the app is broken.
There is also a "you can only swipe left" mode, which you can unlock for a small subscription fee.
The premium mode also places pictures of your partner's exes and coworkers on their swipe feed and notifies you immediately of any infraction.
Swipe left brings a picture of you before you got married.

Sounds like a lot of work. I think I'll just fill it with pics of Hugh Jackman and take it as a an easy win.
How is that going to make him more physically attractive?
Now don’t be ridiculous.
Or you should just leave a disfunctional relationship
Now we have reached peak reddit leakage
Once you have a wife, there is no leaving the disfunction. If you try, an even more dysfunctional partner (the government) will join in on the fun.
I know that we should only comment if we have something to add to the discussion, but this is really sweet. Congrats!
This reminds me of an old Gallagher (the Sledge-o-Matic guy) joke, where he was throwing out product ideas: "Playboy for married guys... Every month, same girl!"
Thanks honey this is great! Wait, who was behind the camera???
This is such a fun idea - taking something like Tinder and turning it into a tiny act of daily love is oddly wholesome. I’d actually love to see some silly stats tracked, like 'Total swipes right' or 'Days streak'. Nice little personal UX twist.
you can see total swipes and shares in the settings :)
Thanks, I've been looking for a way to swipe right on your wife.
Reddit is leaking.
It is, but the original post itself is also pretty funny. So it fits quite nicely
I also choose this guys wife!
This why I love reddit. Oh wait!

Please don't Reddit HN. We serious here
Thank you. I come to hacker news for serious discussions about apps that just show your spouse and you can only swipe right
We have plenty of unserious discussions on HN. We just try to avoid reddit-like memeing.

This is obviously the designated fun thread
Ah yes, the same comment chain memes one can find at the top of every single goddamned thread on reddit. So much fun.
Maybe the designated fun thread isnt a good fit for you
I've never seen somebody get downvoted so hard on HN I can barely read their text. Congrats.
Go into your profile settings, and enable "showdead". Very controversial comments get censored^Whidden so that's why you don't see them.
Mine's a measly -4 points for saying Reddit is terribly unfunny. I'll be fine.
As much as I agree with you (and upvoted your comment on principle), an infrequent well-placed well-timed joke can be tolerated. This was that joke.
I've certainly taken my own chances with Monty Python quotes in the HN comments.
Uuuuuuuugh fine
The view is cut off on iPhone13 mini
https://space55.xyz/files/tmp/tender_screenshot.jpg
Please don‘t the cat.
he accidentally the whole cat
He tried that, but due to iPhone mini he accidentally only half of the cat.
It's platonic
oops, sorry will get that fixed! cute cat though
when i press the “settings” button during setup to allow photo access nothing happens. iOS 18.5, iPhone 15 Pro Max
This is the best post I have ever seen on this site.
But... but... there's no "AI" content in it.
Only thing it's missing is if you both swipe left an AI contacts a divorce attorney on your behalf.
or if your wife was in imaginary scenarios
Where's the MRR? Pfffft.
Where's the B2B? they need to add SSO for teams
Totally. Use the form that doesn't work with password managers. Email first, then present both fields.
Very enterprise. Allows for a different SSO product for each domain.
That's all done with the contract on which lawfirm to contact. Basically exclusivity deals per area and such.
Excellent, also addresses the B2B point brought up by another poster
Won't somebroody think of the shareholders ?
What if his wife is AI? Are we swiping right on Grok 4?
That's what you think. How do you think it recognizes your partner??
Wow, I use the Google Photos widget in much the same way with photos of my wife. What a great idea.
You should get the "It's a match!" alert on every swipe
Better, change it to "It was a match!" or "It's still a match!".
Lit match emoji.
Amazing, is there a plan to add comment and a pickup line features?
No, you can share a pic with with your partner by swiping up but I don’t really plan on adding anything new - the plan is actually to open source it and anyone can add anything they want
It needs Facebook's old "poke" feature.
Brilliant.
Question: the TOS references tender.love domain, why did you go with trytender.app for the landing page?
But how are you going to monetize? Are you looking to raise? Moat seems low to me tbh... ;)
This is great. Props for making something fun.
Also, where are the AI features? What's your AI strategy? And how much tracking data do you generate and sell?
More seriously, thank you for creating this, it's refreshing and fun.
Add a button that generates more pics of his wife. Could monetize that too.
the premium version lets you swipe right on some other guy's wife
that’s just Tinder
(with extra steps)
This sounds super posessive.
NOW we've reached peak Reddit leakage.
How so?
Add pics of other women too. Charge the wife so she gets notified if he swipes right on anyone else.
Monetization is easy. Threaten to show them somebody else's pictures: pay up or we'll show you photos of your sexy neighbor (could be AI-generated). And tell your partner.
i heard yc applications just opened today
Is there an AI angle? I think it's not going to get traction without adding some advanced AI features.
Do you strictly need AI, or can you still get across the line with some blockchain/web3?
Oh if you wanna add crypto to the mix, Marc would like to talk to you, maybe we can work something out.
blockchain/web3 ?
That's so yesterday.
This comment was written with AI
depends on if you have anyone from stanford on your team
I guess you can make AI agent swipe for you. But before I go into details we need to sign NDA.
AI generates a naked version of the pic :D
AI-first, or death.
edit: /s in case your inference engine is not capable of understanding the context.
Monetize by supplying captchas with images of your wife. Bonus is you can train the self-driving cars not to hit her.
Definitely needs microtransactions, or loot boxes
Also are you hiring?

Great idea but cue Tinder trademark lawyers in 3… 2… 1…
That would be no problem for OP I'd be happy to write them back. It's not infringing if you're not doing any business.
Tell that to Nintendo
and not to forget the patent lawyer for "swiping gesture" patent claim that will hit
sorry... i made an app like "the swiping app"...
Love it! What about the legal stuff? That Match group is notorious for running after every little violation of their patent or name collision.
I dunno I would feel awkward swiping pics of your wife all day, especially if my gf caught me doing it.
What if his girlfriend caught him swiping right on his wife? Mayhem
This is why we have the day phone and the night phone, people.
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
Very cute. Congrats on the launch.
Feature request. Ex-wife pics added to the deck and for those you have to swipe left.
Wife gets an alert if you accidently swipe right on ex-wife. Modernized Minesweeper.
Throw in a timer too, which will be reported as stats to wife :-D
With milliseconds precision.
Nice. You need to add coop support with P2P chat and so she can swipe right on you for a match.
I’ll message jack dorsey to see if he wants to collab
If he turns you down you'd might want to consider hotseat coop instead.
Meh only to be bought by Elon?
A tender is the cart that contains the coal in steam locomotives, so it's a burden you can't get rid of. Not sure if my wife would appreciate that (if I had one)
Tinder, however, is a kindling for a fire. Love is a blaze.
I believe the metaphor is succinct.
'unable to connect' - are you geoblocking me (UK) or something? I had this with something else here recently, who's it hosted with if you don't mind?
was this the website? it's hosted on cloudflare so maybe they think you're a bot or something?
Yeah, again today with pricepertoken.com's ShowHN :/ - no chance to do a captcha or anything it just doesn't load in the first place.
"helps couples rediscover the joy of swiping" never for a second have I felt joy while swiping
Sounds like this is not for you then. I think a lot of people have had different experiences with it than you have
that's part of the joke, poking at the useless corporate lingo
I love this, I wonder if you could make it so your partner could create the album and vice versa? And then you could swipe left on each other with pictures you chose for the other.
I'm sure she's a fine lady, but I don't need to swipe right on pictures of your wife.
i also choose this guy's wife to swipe
Swiper no swiping!
Too bad for you - you’re missing out
First glance: in-app purchases. Unfold list - tip, tip and tip (different amounts).
Only anonymous usage and diagnostics gathered.
Not only concept but execution made me smile. Kudos to you!
Aw I actually gave a tip but the app didn't say thanks :( Also when the Settings menu pops up the underlying photo changes.
dara, thank you so much! I appreciate it more than you know (so does my wife haha)
You're welcome! Congrats on the successful launch
For some, this might be a psychological torture device.
I'm too old to have used Tinder, but I connected with my wife on Friendster.
(shakes fist) those were the good old days!
This is a great idea for toddlers and family photo albums
There is no such on-screen experience that is good for toddlers, imo
I think it was ((toddlers and family) photo albums), not (toddlers and (family photo albums)).
Amazing! I love a good cheesy app that lets me show my appreciation. Let me know when it's on Android.
I threw together my own thing called Heart for the Android app store a while ago which sends a notification of a little heart to whomever you've paired with. :)
OnlyFans but it's just my girlfriend and all she does is complain about how I load the dishwasher.
the free trial sucked me in
...I think you and I need to have a talk, since apparently you're dating my wife.
Does this use Apple's face-recognition tech to automatically populate pictures of your spouse, or do you have to add them manually? I was under the impression that third-party apps couldn't access the People albums in PhotoKit.
You have to create the album yourself using Apple’s face recognition tech (Select All, Add to Album), and then tell it which album that is
Left swipes will be added later as a $2.99 microtransaction for a bundle of 5 swipes.
I have a folder with furry art and when I'm bored I scroll that.
When your bored why not go and pay some attention to your wi- .. oh.
A really nice warm feeling was had by all
Wholesome and sweet. Thank you! I'll gladly add to the flower fund.
Did you made it for yourself or for your wife?
Yes
̶B̶l̶i̶n̶k̶ ̶t̶w̶i̶c̶e̶ make 3 quick swipes, 3 slow swipes and 3 quick swipes if you are kept in hostage
Really nice. My wife loves it, Also I.
Feature request: Can we have multiple profiles? So the user can do one set of photos with one girl, another set when with another girl.
Maybe have the app recognize nearby Bluetooth devices so that nobody gets hurt if the user forgets to change profiles before meeting.
Am ready to participate in the seed round.
Injecting new capital, eh?
Only if SAFe and protections are in place
PHRASING?
wtf

You sir, have delivered upon me an entire "ha ha" that I could not hold in. Thanks.
Aren't all gallery app using swipe as default mode for switching pictures?
Sometimes it is inevitable to choose to swiperight against your will
Love the idea! Congrats on launching and being #couplegoals!
Finally.... Some wholesome tech
Brilliant. Can't wait to prank my gf. Waiting for the andriod
Joined the android wait-list
appreciate you!
Favorite post in a long while on here. Thanks for sharing!
I want this under my "boss key" :)
How about turning it into a game by flashing random photos non-wife where a right swipe penalises you?
There are other comments joking about how this app will never secure funding unless it implements an AI feature… well, problem solved! Just have the app periodically flash AI-generated photos of women similar to the wife.
Clearly needs to be called WifeWallet
Or RightWife?
I swiped but your wife didn't match. What gives?
Serious question: does this support polycules
As a wife’s boyfriend I need to know
Can I swipe left when I get divorced?
Can i upload my own pictures and share the girls on Tinder my own version of it, where they only see me?
Hey, have you heard about this new dating app thats way better than Tinder?
I call this guy’s app but for China
i clicked expecting a joke but was not expecting this quality of frontend. kudos!
This is adorable and made my day!
Hmm I granted access to my photos then selected an album but it says "No photos found" after. It also says "PhotoManager has 0 photos" and "DisplayedPhotos has 0 photos". I chose a shared album, if it matters.
edit: okay yeah it doesn’t work with a shared album
Very funny idea, well done!
lovely app, beautiful idea. might save relationships.
Love it, cuteware.
Made my day!
That this needs to exist is deeply disturbing.
What?
This doesn't "need to" exist, it's just a funny parody that someone made.
What are you even talking about?
Seems like perfect scope for vibe coding. Was that done?
why? just why even ask that? i don't quite get the ubiquity of the LLM hype here, and at this point it's starting to feel artificial
People are understandably fascinated by it, and trying to learn to figure out what’s being created by AI and what’s not. The commenter is right about this example, you could certainly vibe code an app like this.
some ai coding tools were used but that's just the development process nowadays
April first?
Whatever she wants.
ok do pornhub next
This is the fancy version of no downvote button. Or there could be a good news website with no bad news. Sceptical
this is pretty nice, and sort of sweet, sure shows the meanness of my own Tinder but it's only pictures of Donald Trump and you can only swipe right practical joke I played on some ex-friends.
Lol. But this can be pivoted into something fun and lovely for couples.
bad ending
Wait till she takes everything in the divorce 10 years from now…
Ahahahah. Made me laugh hard. Thank you.
This would do so well on some subreddits lol
"Take my wife, please!"
Pivot.
Develop a version that's just pictures of yourself for narcissist.
Use AI to make you look thinner and more in shape.
Downloaded the app and paid for premium. Still no wife. Devs pls fix.
don't know if fix is ai search, or ai results
underrated comment
Well with women you just have to act like you don’t care, and stop showing an interest. So stop with the pull requests and start submitting some push requests..
(This is satie for those of you who needs to have it spelled out :-)

Your situation was very different than an app made as a joke, the joke being that Tinder would be used to cheat on your partner, while here a similar app does the opposite.

What did you do wrong?
Serious questions:
Hahaha
SwiftUI and havent made a start on android - it would be compose
No server, everything is on device except for firebase analytics
I assume this was a project for getting experience with SwiftUI, but it was a missed opportunity to get experience with KMP and being able to release Android and iOS at the same time.
I've never heard of Kotlin Multi Platform until now. I've already discounted half a dozen multiplatform solutions, could you perhaps "sell me" on KMP? I absolutely love other Jetbrains products.
Good opportunity for Swipe-right-on-Dev's-wife v2.0!
There is no need for server side. Just host pictures on the phone.
If 2 apps allow to sends pics to the partner, share via local network (extended with Tailscale).
